TECHNICAL DESIGN, PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT, ASSOCIATE DESIGNER
"She's the heart and soul of the brand." A co-worker recently said about me. My belief is that being happy is what it is all about. If a person finds their skilled talent and they enjoy it then that is grand.
I lucked out and found that. After graduating from the amazing Apparel Design Program at Seattle Central Community College, I went after an internship at REI's Product Development. I was hot after that position, due to my love for the outdoors and knowing their fleece and WPB's were produced in Seattle. I grew to Associate Designer helping create the huge apparel line of everything from your base layer to the outer shell and all needs in between. Then a fun migration over to the hard goods for 6 months of developing Tents, Packs and Sleeping Bags.
My next journey was following the main designer from REI to start up a Freelance Design firm (MMLLC) focusing on outdoor brands. After 5 years our team consisted of 2 designers, 3 technical designers and an admin assistant. I was able to balance technical design along with managing the team. This experience added to being a multi-tasker and meeting the different needs of each client, giving them the personal attention required. Along with developing the Marmot Precip jacket among others.
My skills expanded into the fishing world to make waders and other fishing apparel at Farbank enterprises and then proceeded to Grundéns. My favorite part of working in the fishing space besides making award winning waders and jackets was working with all departments. Incorporating the field testers and actual customers was key.
My experience from each endeavor has made me who I am today. I look forward to working together to add more great performing, great fitting products in our world.
